Mission Statement

The International Institute for Subjective Experience and Research (ISER) - Arts and Health is active in the areas of health promotion and art, perceptual and sensory research and aesthetics as well as organizational development. It focuses on the development and establishment of artistic research and with that on alternative epistemological approaches. Its work ranges from discursive, academic to aesthetic, sensory epistemological approaches, which stem from a variety of academic disciplines.
In accordance with its interdisciplinary nature, the institutes' staff come from a range of professional backgrounds, such as cultural science, medicine, pedagogy and sociology.

The 'health promotion' model and the global development aims that come with it, like fighting poverty, sustaining peace and environmental protection are based on concepts of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UNs' Millennium Development Goals (MDGs').
